Specially since you can't repair it and the ammo for it is stupidly limited. Honestly the firelance is possibly the rarest and hardest weapon to get in the game, and there are no guarantees you WILL get it at all without cheating, as the jet sometimes explodes above buildings making the weapon unreachable. There are reports of people finding the Firelance on random NPCs, this might be due to the event happening, being missed by the player but having the weapon be caught by a random npc. The other upside of it is that the WHOLE damage is affected by the pyromaniac perk, which means it can potentially outdamage the Alien Blaster (.If you invest in the pyromaniac perk.which honestly isn't worth it). The Firelance does 80 damage per shot, also criticals almost every hit but sets the enemy on fire adding 2 points of damage per second for 5 seconds. When it does, there will be a jet flying and exploding above wherever you are at the time (or relatively nearby), and the firelance will drop together with 12 units of ammo.
You basically get 1 chance to get the Firelance in your play through, and it appears at random. The Firelance is a different weapon altogether, much rarer. It does 100 damage and will almost always do a critical hit. the Nuka World DLC into a usable player weapon, the Fallout 3 Alien Blaster.
